My journey to healthy glowing skin

Updated: Apr 5, 2021

I think it’s safe to say that we all want healthy glowing skin, and in my practice it’s one of the most common complaints I receive.

Throughout my blog page I will share more on the topic of skin, but I thought I would first share my story with you…

I have always felt that everything shows up on my skin. As a teen with bright red hair and pale skin, any imperfection showed up on my face and it was extremely hard to cover up. I struggled for years with acne, cystic and all, as well as various skin rashes and eczema. Needless to say this had a major impact on my self-esteem and I was continually told “oh this is normal, your skin will fix itself once you’re in your 20’s” but guess what…it didn’t!

I looked to make up to cover up all of my issues, which unfortunately only made matters worse, as I was continuously clogging my pores on a daily basis with heavy makeup. I also became a huge skincare junky and basically purchased anything that would give me that quick fix or had claims to rid my skin of its acne and scars.

What happened after that? Well my skin was for lack of a better word, a disaster. My skin became inflamed, dry and damaged as I was using conventional products that were stripping my skin, causing broken capillaries, redness and irritation.

Now throughout my life I had several health issues, mostly dealing with gut health such as; H.Pylori and GERD (gastroephageal reflux disease), and as I began to pay attention to my internal health, I then began to learn about the gut+skin connection. (more on this topic in a future post).

It was around that time where I began to make changes within my diet and started reading labels in my personal care products. As I started focusing on my gut health, I began replacing makeup, and skincare products with healthy organic alternatives.

Your skin is a reflection of what is going on inside your body.

Now this was not an overnight success....I spent hours researching, trying to figure things out on my own, and it took a couple years to fully heal and thrive. From my own personal skin struggles grew a passion to help others on their journey by providing clients with the tools and information that I wish I had at the time.

If you're struggling with your skin, I hope my story brings some comfort knowing you're not alone, and there is so much holistic nutrition can offer to help you achieve healthy glowing skin too!

I can't wait to share more tips and info in my upcoming blog posts, so stay tuned!
